The teasers of Hum TV and ISPR’s joint production, Ehd-e-Wafa have been doing rounds on social media for the last few days. And each time a new teaser or still from the upcoming play comes out, the 90’s kid is instantly reminded of Shoaib Mansoor’s cult classic, Sunehray Din.

Ehd-e-Wafa is a military show that revolves around the lives of four cadets played by Osman Khalid Butt, Ahad Raza Mir, Ahmed Ali Akbar and Wahaj Ali.

On the other hand, Sunehray Din, which marked the debut of Saleem Sheikh at the time also focused on the lives and friendships of military cadets.

Like Sunehray Din, Ehd-e-Wafa also features strong friendship bonds

From finding a way to get around the strict rules of Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) to play tricks on professors and peers, the bond between those four boys seems rock solid.

The show’s official bio also reads:

“A story about true friends on their journey of hardships and hustle…”

Sunehray Din revolved around two best friends Safeer and Gul Sher’s time in PMA.

Disciplinary Tactics

The use of disciplinary tactics and punishments when cadets are not on their best behavior is a regular feature of cadet life. Ehd-e-Wafa, like Sunehray Din seems to give ample screen time to this phenomenon.

The Tough Routine of a Cadet

The teaser of Ehd-e-Wafa gives us a glimpse of the tough routine of army cadets up close similar to how it was shown in Sunehray Din.

The Famous Payala Cut

The payala cut that Safeer and Gul Sher of Sunehray Din had to get when they got selected in the military academy also made its way to Ehd-e-Wafa.

Sense of Responsibility

Ahad Raza Mir’s character in Ehd-e-Wafa is carefree with little sense of responsibility but once he enters the Military Academy, the tough training instills a sense of responsibility. Same was the case with Safeer of Sunehray Din. Safeer could not even do his own chores himself before joining PMA, an experience that changed his easy-going attitude forever.

The drama is written by Mustafa Afridi who also wrote Aangan. Ehd-e-Wafa also features Zara Noor Abbas and Hajra Yamin.
