The player draft for Pakistan Super League 3 (PSL 3) was organized in Lahore on the 12th of this month. With squads finalized, here is what we think Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars and the Karachi Kings will bring to table in PSL 3.
Multan Sultans have had a strange beginning to their campaign from the word go. First they ended up securing the services of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis in the same dressing room – a decision that backfired within a few days. And now they have finalized a squad that certainly does not seem as strong as some of the other teams that will be competing in the tournament.
Nevertheless, with Wasim Akram as their Team Director, Shoaib Malik as their captain and Kumar Sangakara, Keiron Pollard and Imran Tahir as their key foreign players, the latest franchise of the league is all set to add a new flavor when the tournament begins early next year.
Lahore Qalandars is the only team that has failed to reach the play-off stage during the first two editions of PSL. Therefore, the franchise has a lot to play for during the upcoming season.
With Fakhar Zaman and Brendon McCullum both in the same team, Qalandars will offer one of the best opening pairs in the tournament. Nevertheless, it is not the players but the owner Fawad Rana himself who is likely to be the most attractive individual from the team.
After all there is no other owner who has received so much attention and love from fans this far. Here is a video to explain what I mean and that why the humble millionaire is popular.
The performance of Karachi Kings during the next season is all set to provide the national selectors with an insight of how good or bad a captain Imad Wasim is. Moreover, Shahid Afridi’s presence is bound to attract attention once the team begins its campaign in U.A.E.
That said, I feel that Muhammad Amir and Mitchel Johnson bowling together has to be the most anticipated thing and will eventually remain a talking point throughout PSL 3 for the Kings.
