Mahira Khan’s much talked about Bollywood debut with Shahrukh Khan had everyone excited on both sides of the border. However, last year when the relations between Pakistan and India went downhill, Raees, (i.e. Mahira’s debut Indian film) became the focus of a huge controversy following protests by members of extremist outfits in India. At one point it was speculated that the makers of the film were considering dropping her from the cast and re-shooting the portions that she had already filmed with another actress.

However, the speculations proved wrong and Mahira figured prominently in the recently released theatrical trailer of Raees.

And today, the internet is going crazy over the release of Mahira’s first song from Raees, titled, Zaalima.

In less than a day of its release the song has surpassed 10 million views on Youtube! The comments section is overflowing with praise for Mahira Khan and her Indian fans cannot stop gushing about how beautiful she is!

Mahira indeed looks breathtaking despite very minimal make-up. Her┬áco-star on the other hand, draped in Pathani Shalwar Kurta and a turban looks every bit the king of romance that he’s known to be!

The chemistry between Mahira and SRK is spot on and will not leave the fans on either side of the border disappointed!

Zaalima as a song is upbeat with a tune that’s easy on the ears and lyrics that hit the right cord immediately.

While the instant success of Zaalima is surely a good sign for Raees and its makers, it has also provided Pakistanis and Indians with an opportunity to bond. With the tensions between the two countries having experienced a rise in the last few months, Zaalima, with a beloved Indian and an equally adored Pakistani give people on both sides of the divide with a reason to engage with each other over a happy subject.

Watch the song and let us know what you think about it!
