On Wednesday a local court dismissed Cynthia Ritchie’s petition against Senator Rehman Malik where she was seeking registration of a rape case against him.

As per the police report, Cynthia Ritchie had neither provided any evidence to substantiate the allegation of rape in 2011 nor had she produced any material on record to show that she had been harassed by Rehman Malik.

The police then stated her accusations against PPP senator baseless.

The American blogger’s counsel, Imran Feroz Malik, argued that the police had refused to register an FIR against Mr. Malik on her complaint.

The police however maintained that the complaint submitted by the blogger didn’t have a medical report attached to it hence, making her case doubtful and inadequate for the registration of an FIR.

Ms. Ritchie had accused Rehman Malik of raping her at his residence and alleged that together with former premier Yousuf Raza Gillani, he had employed the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) media cell to intimidate, threaten, harass and defame the US citizen on social media platforms.

The same court also dismissed a petition filed by Senator Rehman Malik seeking registration of a defamation case against the blogger due to the non-prosecution of the case.

However, Cynthia remained active on social media while blaming the “legal system” of Pakistan.
